Give this chocolatey classic a spicy twist by adding dried chilli flakes to add a bit of fire! These chilli chocolate brownies are simply irresistible.

Prep time 10 minutes | Bake time 20 minutes | Makes 12 Brownies

Ingredients

150g unsalted butter
100g dark chocolate
40g cocoa powder
30g self raising flour
200g caster sugar
2 tsp dried chilli flakes, plus a little extra to decorate
3 large eggs, beaten

Method

  • Pre- heat the oven to 170˚C
  • Line a 20 x 30 rectangle baking tin with some greaseproof paper
  • Melt the chocolate and butter in the microwave, or in a bowl over some simmering water. Leave to one side to cool slightly
  • Place the cocoa powder, flour, sugar, chilli flakes and eggs into a large bowl and mix until well combined
  • Fold in the cooled chocolate and butter and then pour the mixture into the prepared tin
  • Sprinkle over the remaining chilli flakes and bake for 20 minutes, or until the edges feel firm but the middle is still a little wobbly
  • Leave to cool completely in the tin before slicing and serving
